Republic Earth wishes to create a global online democratic community by encouraging people to vote online on important votes for humanity. Republic Earth has a policy of both promoting important votes that are occuring around the world and providing citizens with the opportunity to create your own votes.
For example, vote 1 (2017 Republic Earth Music Festival) & vote 2 (UN: My World 2015) are two important votes that Republic Earth wishes to promote to citizens and encourage citizens to have their say online. While, vote 3 is a vote that was nominated by Republic Earth’s first circle of citizens that included Republic Earth’s Co-Founders Daniel & Andrew White, as an important vote worth promoting and seeking the views of citizens around the world.
Republic Earth encourages people to become citizens of Republic Earth and to set up Republic Earth circles so you can have an opportunity of nominating an important global vote to seek the views of citizens all around the world. It is free to join Republic Earth but when a circle nominates a vote then we do seek a donation so we can continue to fund and grow the Republic Earth community.

VOTE 2: UN – MY WORLD 2015
Republic Earth’s second vote is for citizens to select what issues they believe are important for the world to address in the C21st Century.
According to the UN, “MY World is a global survey for citizens led by the United Nations and partners. It aims to capture people’s voices, priorities and views, so that global leaders can be informed as they begin the process of defining the new development agenda for the world.Through creative online and offline methods, MY World asks individuals which six of sixteen possible issues they think would make the most difference to their lives.
The sixteen issues have been built up from the priorities expressed by poor people in existing research and polling exercises and they cover the existing Millennium Development Goals, plus issues of sustainability, security, governance and transparency.”

VOTE 3: REPUBLIC OF AUSTRALIA – MODEL VOTE
Republic Earth’s third vote is for citizens to select their prefered model for a Republic of Australia. In Australia it is the Australian people who decide our governments of the day and our prime ministers via democratically held elections. Queen Elizabeth II, our British Head of State, does not decide our governments or our prime ministers – it is the Australian people. Thus, in reality, the sovereignty of the nation is already in the hands of the Australian people and thus Australia is arguably a republic in all but name; however, officially Australia is still a constitutional monarchy whereby the sovereignty of the nation still resides with the English monarch, Queen Elizabeth II.
The aim of this vote is to encourage people to support the campaign for Australia to become a Republic of Australia and work out which model for an Australian Head of State is the preferred option. The key focus is to have an Australian Head of State, as it seems unacceptable for an English monarch to be Australia’s Head of State in the 21st century. Currently, Australia has three political institutions or leaders that fill the hierarchy of our political system. At the top we have our Head of State, our Queen of Australia, currently being filled by Queen Elizabeth II. Next in line is the Governor-General of Australia, currently being filled by Governor-General Peter Cosgrove. Finally, we have the Prime Minister of Australia, currently being filled by Prime Minister Tony Abbott. For most republicans the fact that at the top of Australia’s political system there is an English Head of State is totally unacceptable, so we should always ask, ‘What do we want of our head of state?’. This Republic of Australia vote allows citizens to choose which model they prefer as the model Australia should adopt for an Australian Head of State.
Vote 3 was nominated by RE Circle 1: Headed by Republic Earth Co-Founder & inaugural Republic Earth Candidate Daniel White. Vote 3 is the first idea to be deemed a ‘star’ democratic idea. (RE-STAR01/2014)
VOTE 4: 2017 REPUBLIC EARTH FILM OF THE YEAR
Republic Earth’s fourth vote is for citizens to select their favourite film for 2017. Citizens can either vote for one of the ten nominated films or simply nominate the title of your favourite film for 2017.
Republic Earth will be campaigning for the Oscars and other major international film award ceremonies to allow the people the right to vote for their favourite film each year. There should not be a category for Best Foreign Language Film but for the best film for that year. The Oscars needs to move beyond promoting American Exceptionalism and start to embrace the world and all the films from around the world.
Voting ends on 1 March 2018.
Vote 4 was nominated by RE Circle 1: Headed by Republic Earth Co-Founder & inaugural Republic Earth Candidate Daniel White. Vote 4 is the second idea to be deemed a ‘star’ democratic idea. (RE-STAR02/2014)
VOTE 5: NEW AUSTRALIAN FLAG
Republic Earth’s fifth vote is for citizens to select their favourite design for a new Australian Flag. On 2 May 2015 the Labor for an Australian Republic Group hosted an event at the Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (MADE) and held a new Australian Flag Competition, which the Southern Horizon Flag design won. The aim now is to conduct an online democracy competition to allow all citizens to participate in a vote for a new Australian Flag.
